INPEX sponsored and provided volunteer logistical support for the 16th Kashiwazaki Shiokaze Marathon held on May 15 in the city of Kashiwazaki in Niigata Prefecture where the company carries out business operations.

A record 3,188 runners from 32 prefectures and about 900 volunteers participated in this year’s edition. 91 INPEX employees also ran in the various subdivisions of the event including one that won a bronze medal. 41 INPEX employees worked as volunteers to set up the venue, man water stations and control traffic.

The marathon, which features amateur runners from throughout the local communities, is also known as the “mountain marathon” for its numerous ups and downs.

INPEX has supported this event since 2008.
