INPEX Participates in Youngsters’ Science Festival in Niigata, Japan

INPEX participated in the Niigata Prefecture edition of the Youngsters’ Science Festival held in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture on February 9-10, 2019.

This annual festival held since 1999 aims to develop technical creativity among youth by providing children with the opportunity to experience the "wonders of science" and "joy of making things" through experiments and craftwork sessions organized by high schools, universities and companies based in Niigata Prefecture.

INPEX has sponsored and exhibited a booth at this event held in Niigata Prefecture since 2004. This year, INPEX organized an exhibit on the Minami Nagaoka Gas Field as well as a short quiz on natural gas and crude oil based on the theme “How is natural gas made?”

About 300 people, mostly children and their parents, visited the INPEX booth over the two-day event and learned about the characteristics of natural gas and the nature of INPEX’s business operations. Feedback from the visitors included statements such as, “I became interested in oil and natural gas” and “I didn’t know that Niigata Prefecture ranks first in Japan in terms of natural gas extraction.”

INPEX will continue to engage in social contribution efforts in support of local communities.
