INPEX sponsored and provided volunteer logistical support for the 18th annual Kashiwazaki Shiokaze Marathon held on May 20, 2018 in the city of Kashiwazaki in Niigata Prefecture where the company carries out business operations.

The marathon, which attracts amateur runners from throughout the local communities, is also known as the “mountain marathon” for its numerous hills. A total of 2,679 runners participated in the various categories of this year’s edition.

INPEX has sponsored this event since 2008. This year, 22 INPEX employees worked as volunteers to help build and take down the main facility of the event. 65 INPEX employees also entered the competition as runners, where one employee won fourth place and another finished fifth in the 30~39 age category of the women’s half marathon.
