INPEX sponsored and provided volunteer logistical support for the 17th Kashiwazaki Shiokaze Marathon held on May 21, 2017 in the city of Kashiwazaki in Niigata Prefecture where the company carries out business operations.

A total of 3,012 runners and about 900 volunteers participated in the various sub-events of this year’s edition. 95 INPEX employees also entered the competition, where one employee won a silver medal and another finished sixth in the 30~39 age category of the women’s half marathon.

36 INPEX employees worked as volunteers to set up the venue, service water stations and control traffic.

The marathon, which features amateur runners from throughout the local communities, is also known as the “mountain marathon” for its numerous ups and downs.

INPEX has supported this event since 2008.
