INPEX sponsored and provided logistical support for the 11th Echigo Kubikino Marathon held on October 9 in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture where Naoetsu LNG terminal carries out business operations.
The event, known as one of Japan’s most prominent ultramarathons, offers two course options. The first is a 100km course that traverses five peaks with numerous ups and downs. The second is a 60km course that passes along historic sites and places of interest around the city. More than 2,700 runners participated from all across Japan.
17 INPEX employees participated as volunteers this year, manning the registration desk and passing out water at aid stations. Meanwhile, six employees took part as competitors, one in the 60km course and five in the 100km course. Despite the event being held in the rain, the runners each made their way to the goal line cheered on by spectators lining the roads.
INPEX has supported this event since 2010.
