INPEX Lectures Takasaki University of Health and Welfare High School Students

INPEX, through its subsidiary INPEX Solutions (INPEX Solutions), Ltd., presented lectures on oil and gas and decarbonization to first year students at Takasaki University of Health and Welfare High School in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, on September 30 and October 7, 2022. The lectures were part of a series of presentations given by various external lecturers from seven companies including INPEX Solutions forming a component of the school's "Inquiry-based Cross-Disciplinary Study" curriculum.

The INPEX Solutions lectures consisted of an introduction on INPEX's natural gas trunk pipeline network in Japan and an overview of oil and gas development illustrated by a video on the Ichthys LNG Project as a source of the natural gas supplied through the pipeline network, and a subsurface core sample.

Following the lectures, students were given a group work project to explore ways to reduce household CO2 emissions by 59 percent, a goal that Gunma Prefecture seeks to achieve by 2030. A pitch contest was subsequently held on December 9, 2022, where students proposed various ideas based on their group work. Student proposals included introducing photovoltaic power generation, switching to lower emission appliances, running advertisements to raise awareness and making greater use of public facilities.

The lectures were successful in raising students' awareness of energy issues, as one student commented, "Thanks to this project, my family and I began to discuss energy issues at home."

INPEX will continue implementing social contribution activities including education and empowerment initiatives.
