INPEX Gives Oil & Gas Lecture to Students in Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering, National Institute of Technology (KOSEN)

INPEX, through its subsidiary INPEX Solutions, Ltd., presented an online lecture on the oil & gas industry to approximately 160 students between the first and fifth years at Gunma College's Department of Environmental and Urban Engineering, National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) on September 29, 2021.

The lecture entitled "How INPEX aligns with SDGs in Japan and other countries" was made up of four components including "Oil, Natural Gas and SDGs," "Developing Oil and Natural Gas," "Building Environmental and Urban Engineering at the Ichthys Project" and "INPEX's approach to a Net Zero Carbon Society," and included short movies.

The students showed an interest in net zero carbon initiatives including Carbon dioxide Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), a technology described in INPEX's "Business Development Strategy - Towards a Net Zero Carbon Society by 2050" announced on January 27, 2021. The students found that studies in environmental and urban engineering provide the basis of energy projects. They were also surprised to learn of the sheer scale of costs and the number of procedures involved in oil & gas business activities as well as the enormous sizes of the Ichthys LNG Project facilities.

INPEX will continue implementing social contribution activities including education and empowerment initiatives.
