NPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) announced today that its Sustainability Report 2020 (the Report) was awarded the Prize for Excellence in the Environmental Reporting category at the 24th Environmental Communication Awards, presented by Japan's Ministry of the Environment and the Global Environmental Forum.
The Environmental Communication Awards aim to improve the quality of environmental disclosure while encouraging businesses to engage in environmental management and communications by recognizing outstanding environmental reports. This year, 26 companies including INPEX were awarded prizes in this category out of 147 applicants.
The Report consolidates a variety of information related to INPEX's sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives disclosed through the company's Annual Report, website and other publications. The Report compiles and clarifies this information for the benefit of investors, NGOs and other stakeholders that require a wide range of non-financial insights into the Company.
The awarding of the prize is attributed to the Report being highly evaluated by the panel of judges for its straightforward presentation of key environmental issues that were identified, sorted and listed in a way consistent with INPEX's management strategy. The Report was also rated highly for dedicating numerous pages to climate change, given the issue's particular influence on the oil & gas industry.
