INPEX Joins Getting to Zero Coalition

INPEX CORPORATION (INPEX) has joined the Getting to Zero Coalition, a consortium of companies within the maritime, energy, infrastructure and finance sectors committed to developing and deploying commercially viable, deep-sea zero emission vessels (ZEVs) by 2030.

The coalition strives to help achieve the target set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from international shipping by at least 50 percent by 2050 compared to 2008.

INPEX charters three LNG tankers through its subsidiaries INPEX Shipping Co., Ltd. and IT Marine Transport Pte. Ltd. Joining this coalition enables INPEX to contribute to the coalition's key initiatives by drawing on specialized knowledge gained from its gas value chain business operations.

INPEX recognizes that a global transition to a low-carbon society is under way to achieve the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement, and climate change is a critical business issue. The company is committed to fulfilling its role in addressing climate change as a responsible member of the oil and gas industry.
