INPEX Receives Letter of Commendation from Japan Coast Guard

On March 30, 2020, INPEX received a letter of commendation from the Joetsu Coast Guard Station, which reports to the Japan Coast Guard's 9th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters based in Niigata City. The certificate was issued in recognition of the meritorious conduct of staff on duty at the INPEX-operated Naoetsu LNG Terminal that assisted in the rescue of a kayaker adrift in the Port of Naoetsu on March 13, 2020.

The rescue involved Naoetsu LNG Terminal staff locating and subsequently rescuing the kayaker from a mooring dolphin at the facility using a lifebuoy and an emergency ladder. The kayaker had been fishing inside the Port of Naoetsu and unable to return to shore due to strong winds.

The Naoetsu LNG Terminal regularly conducts emergency drills in preparation for various accident scenarios within the facility's operations area. It is believed these drills contributed to the successful rescue effort.

INPEX will continue to fulfil its responsibilities as a member of the local community and engage in proactive CSR activities to further build trusting relationships.
