INPEX exhibited a booth at the Youngsters' Science Festival held in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture on February 1-2, 2020. The festival was held jointly with the "Nagaoka Manufacturing Fair" and the "Niigata Prefecture Traditional Crafts Exhibition." A total of 16,820 people attended the event over the two-day period.
This annual festival aims to inspire children and nurture their interest in science through experiments and craftwork sessions organized by high schools, universities and companies based in Niigata Prefecture.
The INPEX booth focused on the theme "how is natural gas made?" and engaged visitors with an introductory video on the INPEX-operated Minami Nagaoka Gas Field, a quiz on oil & gas and an overview on the methanation demonstration test currently being conducted at INPEX's Koshijihara Plant in Nagaoka. A total of about 380 people visited the INPEX booth over the two-day period, and many visitors conveyed their appreciation of learning that Nagaoka is Japan's largest natural gas producing area.
INPEX will continue to implement a wide range of social contribution activities including initiatives to educate and empower the coming generations.
