Research & Development: Environmental Conservation

Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage (CCS) is a process for capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2). The Research Institute of Innovative Technology conducted a demonstration test for underground CO2 storage by using our Iwanohara well site in the Minami-Nagaoka gas field. We have collaborated on activities including drilling of CO2 injection and observation wells, and construction and operation of a CO2 injection plant. In addition, we have joined the research consortium Japan CCS Co., Ltd., and are conducting a feasibility study for a domestic CCS business.
